Professor Ovidiu Nicolescu is widely recognized as one of Romania's leading experts in management science. As an Emeritus Professor at Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), he has spent decades shaping both academic theory and practical management methods in the country. His extensive international experience, gathered from studies and engagements in Romania, Belgium, the United States, and Spain, has given him a broad perspective, helping him bring valuable global insights into the Romanian context.

In addition to his academic contributions, Professor Nicolescu has actively supported Romania's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). His roles as Honorary President of the National Council of Romanian SMEs (CNIPMMR) and as President of the Romanian Academic Society of Management (SAMRO) bridge the gap between theoretical management approaches and practical business needs. This has significantly benefited Romanian SMEs, fostered stronger, more professional management practices and contributed directly to their growth and competitiveness.

Professor Nicolescu's scholarly work is extensive, featuring over 690 publications, including 185 books distributed internationally across more than 20 countries. His research has notably advanced fields such as SME development, stakeholder theory, and knowledge-based management. One of his key contributions is the "manager-relevant stakeholder" paradigm, designed to help businesses better navigate today's complex organizational challenges.

His work continues to earn widespread recognition. In 2024, he was awarded the prestigious "Petre S. Aurelian" Prize by the Romanian Academy for co-authoring "Stakeholder Management and Social Responsibility – Concepts, Approaches and Tools in the Covid Context." Additionally, his leadership in producing essential documents like the "White Paper of SMEs" underscores his long-term commitment to understanding and improving Romania’s business climate.

In recognition of his fundamental contributions, the University of Oradea awarded Professor Nicolescu the Doctor Honoris Causa title in 2014. This honor specifically highlighted his essential role in modernizing Romanian management practices and educational approaches, a recognition echoed by multiple other Romanian institutions.

Professor Nicolescu's entire career has proved dedicated leadership, innovative theoretical insights, and rigorous, practical research can profoundly impact both academia and the wider business community. His ongoing contributions continue to shape and inspire Romania's management landscape, reflecting his deep commitment to societal advancement through effective management.
